What is lip blush ?

From balms to tints and lip liners, women have tried it all just to achieve their #lipgoals. But the good news is there is now a semi-permanent treatment that promises gorgeous, kissable, pouty lips in a jiffy—lip blush tattoo! And if you’ve been thinking of getting the lip tattoo treatment but haven’t been sure, this article is just for you. Find out what lip blush tattoo is and why we’re so obsessed with it.

What Exactly Is Lip Blush Tattoo?

Also known as lip blushing, a lip blush tattoo is a semi-permanent procedure that uses tiny needles to inject pigments into the lip area. Despite being a relatively new player in the world of semi-permanent cosmetics, the treatment has quickly become popular because of its promising and natural-looking results. With a lip blush tattoo, you’ll get fuller, more voluptuous lips with the kind of pout you’ve always wanted.

Is It Safe?

I know we’ve mentioned needles, but a lip blush tattoo isn’t as painful as it sounds. The truth is, the treatment isn’t painful at all unless you have a shallow pain threshold. But even then, your artist will apply numbing cream to reduce the discomfort and pain beforehand. Plus, the whole procedure won’t take longer than two or three hours, so you don’t have to worry about anything.

What Are the Possible Side Effects of Lip Blush Tattoo?

While semi-permanent treatments like lip blush tattoos have been around for years, we get why you still might be concerned about possible side effects. For one, the lip area is home to some of the most sensitive skin on your body. Hence, to give you a heads up, here are some lip blushing side effects you can expect.

Tolerable Pain and a Little Swelling

While putting numbing cream is a must for every lip blushing treatment, some may still experience a bit of pain during the procedure. The good news is this quickly goes away once the whole process is done. You may also notice a slight swelling, especially in the lower lip area, but this disappears in a few hours. You may not even be able to see any evidence of lip blush tattoo by the next day.

Some Skin Bumps

This side-effect is rarely seen, but lip blushing can sometimes cause skin bumps. If you notice any red or itchy bumps, do let your artist know so she can treat them before they scar.

Minor Irritation and Sensitivity to Taste

Since the lip blush tattoo is semi-permanent, the ink injected will remain in your lip area for 6 to 18 months. This means you’ll need to make sure the ink doesn’t get in contact with any substance or chemical that can cause irritation or damage it more than necessary. Also, lip blushing may make your lip area sensitive to taste for a few days after the procedure, so avoid eating spicy food while you wait.

Itchiness

Similar to the skin bumps, very few clients also complain about itchiness. It usually starts a day or two after a lip blush tattoo, and the itching may last for two to three days. But most lip-blushing artists usually give creams or balms to counter this reaction, so it’s not something you should worry about.

A Few Shallow, Temporary Scars

Lastly, a lip blush tattoo can at times leave some shallow scars around the lip area. But with proper care and after-treatment, they almost always disappear within a week.
